Prototype testing is ongoing during 2010, so WeatherVelos are not yet available to buy in Britain.

Therefore, prices have yet to be determined. As as indication: initially, low volume production means that the purchase price for a complete WeatherVelo is likely to be roughly equivalent to that of a small/medium motorbike (which although faster does not offer weather-protection, nor stability, nor healthy exercise). The WeatherVelo Mode can be bought in stages to spread the cost: trike, electric assistance, luggage box, front fairing and main fairing are separate modules.

WeatherVelo running costs will be equivalent to that of an electric bicycle: no petrol/diesel to buy, servicing similar to a normal bike, no V.E.D. (car tax), no congestion charge in London.

The Department for Transport (London) is belatedly revising outdated domestic legislation concerning electrically assisted pedal cycles. This has an impact on the viability of sale and use of WeatherVelos in Britain. It is hoped that common sense will prevail and British rules will finally match those in other EU countries, where a WeatherVelo is classified as a pedelec = legally a bicycle.
